A Comedy, A Tragedy and A Mama Drama
  corner

There is nothing that can resist change, There are no stories that will not end, Even though its hard to acknowledge that, But this is the reality. The ending of a season, Is the begining of a new one.

5th November 1605

I am not too good with my history but I think the gist of the story goes like this. There was this English king, I think he was called Henry. He married and then wanted to divorce his wife and marry another woman again and I think he did this (either divorce or chopped the head of his wife off) quite a few times. Back then, I think the king claims to be anointed by God and hence his right to rule over others, or something like that. However, back then, Britain was Catholic and the pope was not too keen with this old guy deciding that he wanted to go against the catholic tradition thingie of not having only one woman to love and to treasure throughout his life. And history goes on (and I have no idea what’s is the real story) and this king decided if the pope was not going support him, he will just denounce the pope and come up with his own religion, and made best with him as the head of the religion. ( I am not too sure about this but I think I got the foggy idea) Then of course, they became not too happy with each other and then since he was head of this religion and he was king, he wanted all his men to follow him and all that. Just like how Bushy now is going around shooting the crap out of anyone that did not have the same religion as him, it was not going to work and along civil war resulted.

So by 1605, there was this guy called Robert Catesby that was a Catholic and was not too happy with the whole thing. The old queen died and they hoped that the one that the new king that took over would be a little nicer, but being the all powerful bigot that these old foggies used to be, he was not. He made life worse for the Catholics and then this bloke called Robert Catesby decided to blow up the whole parliament and the king and all. They managed to store a lot of gun powder in the cellars of the houses of Parliament hoping to blow them sky high. As usual, sure got some miserable dipshit that will go and tell on them. So the plot was discovered and Guy Fawkes was the one that was caught in the cellar. They tide him up, hanged him and chopped him up to scare the rest of them.

To remember the traitors, terrorists or what they are called, the population then decided to have the bonfire night every year on the anniversary. They all had a good time setting off fire works and building bonfires to throw effigies of Guy Fawkes to burn on them. Maybe some day we will celebrate burring paper cut outs of Bin Laden as well.

And so the tradition was carried on until today. Sometimes I wonder if we are celebrating the capture of these guys or celebrating their attempt to overthrow a useless king that was making everyone’s life miserable.
